Rising Star Academy is currently accepting faculty applications for all divisions and subject areas and will keep on file through the 2010-2011 school year should an opening arise. 

CURRENT OPENINGS

UPPER SCHOOL HISTORY TEACHER: Full-Time

Duties include teaching four/five sections of history courses, possibly including American History, World History and World Cultures. Bachelor's Degree, teaching experience required; advanced degree and NJ certification is a plus.

UPPER SCHOOL MATH TEACHER: Part-Time

Duties include teaching two sections of math courses, possibly including Algebra I, II and Geometry. Bachelor's degree, teaching experience required; advanced degree, NJ certification and interest in non-traditional pedagogy are pluses.

UPPER SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER: Part-Time

Duties include teaching two sections of Upper School Science, primarily Physical Chemistry and Biology; ability to teach 9th grade physics is a strong positive. Bachelor's Degree, teaching experience required; advanced degree and NJ certification is a plus.

UPPER SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER: Part-Time

Duties include teaching two sections of Upper School English. Must be able to teach expository writing, literature and novel-based curriculum. Bachelor's Degree and teaching experience required; advanced degree NJ certification, ability to teach Creative Writing and willingness to teach across the curriculum is a plus.

UPPER SCHOOL SCIENCE LAB ASSISSTANT: Full-Time

Under general supervision, assist in the planning and implementation of laboratory activities for all science departments/programs; order, receive, store, issue, and inventory laboratory supplies and equipment; repair, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment; perform skilled technical duties in the operation and maintenance of science laboratories; properly manage hazardous or biohazardous materials/wastes. Associated degree (60+ credits) in any area of science and experience required; bachelor’s degree is a plus.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER: Part –Time

Duties include teaching boys (elementary through high school students) physical fitness techniques, sports playing, and guiding them toward living a healthy and active lifestyle. Physical education teacher is expected to construct different lesson plans for classes of different aged students to help them develop athletic skills and enjoy exercising. Associated degree in Physical Education and experience required; bachelor’s degree is a plus. Coaching after school sports teams and events is also a plus.
